After spending time absorbing the nutrition, the seeds decided to sprout above the surface. First, they were really small. Then rapidly they started to grow faster and faster. Of course the little radishes need water to keep them growing. A day after another, I noticed that the radishes are growing very fast, and I don't have to water them as much as they needed when they were just seeds.
After spending about an entire year without school; without writing, without reading, or doing any English, coming back to school is where I put myself to grow just like first putting the seeds in the soil and waiting for it to sprout. I kept gaining information and writing and reading strategies during the first weeks of school, which was watering me to help me grow just like watering the seeds. Writing the first essay was a little bit hard for me even though I used to write research papers from eight to ten pages long back in high school, but I was sure that was just me trying to sprout and get above the surface to see the light of my education and to use the strategies I have been learning. After writing the first essay, I lost the fear of writing and I’m putting all my attention into writing my second essay. While working on my second essay, I noticed that I don’t have to learn so many things and strategies as much as I learned in the first weeks of school. This reminded of the little radishes I’m planting; after sprouting, they do not need that much water as they needed in the first days of planting before sprouting.

** The picture above shows the little radish when it first sprouted (top). the pic at the bottom shows how fast the radishes grew the day after. **

  1. Hey Zahra good job engaging with your plants and school. I still remember when I first start college, it was a disaster for me. However, after the first couple quarters, I realized school isn't that bad after all. I also agree with you that after a couple weeks of watering our plant, we don't need to water them as much as before, because the fundamental of the plants are getting stronger and stronger every day. Just let us we will somehow bloom one day. Good job and keep up the hard work!!!

  2. Your plants are looking good. And great job on your post. I think you are doing a great job. Good luck on your schooling, and I believe that you will be better than you were in high school. I know i felt the same way. I used to write longer papers and now feel like i am struggling to write a one page essay. Just keep your chin up and you will find you can accomplish a lot.

  3. Zahra,

I think you have done an amazing job on your blog as well as your plants and your presentation today. I myself like you, have not been in school for a long time, though I think I might have the edge on you since I have not been in any type of school setting for 10 years, but share the same sentiments as you. I too feel like a new plant. I wish you continued success in everything you do, it has truly been a being your classmate.

    All The Best,
    Noah
